I only got this thing so I could make my deal here. [ he shrugs his shoulders, brows pulling together. it's all business and no pleasure for him, even though bellamy's beginning to get that a little mixed up. ] You can't get to know someone through a profile.

The only person who's bothered to swipe is Elsa, and that'd been to get me to notice she changed my profile in the first place.
[ he could tell her of the chats he's had with the girls who have swiped right on him, if only to see her pull a disgusted face. but he leaves it for now as he looks at her with a grin. it's not important. he thinks he can guess the reason why she's taken an interest in his profile, and while he wants to tell her she doesn't have to worry about him (even though she does), he decides to try and fluster her instead. ]
You can just leave it blank. It's cute you're looking out for me.
no subject
And I doubt she swiped just for that reason.

[ he isn't offended at all, but bellamy feels like he has to prove himself to octavia. he's not hopeless! he simply prefers keeping a distance between himself and everyone else. it's safer and it's smarter and he's more comfortable that way. talking to octavia about this ends up with her teasing him, and though he enjoys seeing her more brighter and lighter than she's been in ages, it's still at his expense, and it's still slightly encroaching on a territory he's not even comfortable acknowledging just yet. ]
no subject
That's why I'm redoing your profile.

What's wrong with hanging out with my little sister on a Friday night?
[ they'd done it every friday night for a good portion of their lives, and he'd never thought anything wrong by it. he still doesn't now. even with all the social rules and how it'd frame him to be "uncool", the only person he's ever sought to be "cool" with is her. ]

O, if you want to hang out with me other people can wait. Doesn't matter if I have a date or some soccer game going on. You come first. [ he shrugs his shoulders. it's so simple to him, and he wonders if she'll ever see it. ] Everyone else can wait.
no subject
your fault.
she wonders if she'd be so forgiving if the tables were turned. if it had been his fault. she glances away from him, forcing herself away from those thoughts.]
I'm pretty sure that soccer and a date are two very different things... I think.
no subject
I'm pretty sure you can combine both, O.
[ he looks away from her. ] You don't have to hang out with me if you don't want to. I'm not going to force you.

You're only here for the free food.
[ it's easier to pretend it's that than anything else, even though bellamy beams just a little brighter with her own admission. ]
[ dropping his arm in his lap, he shifts on the couch and slouches even further into it. this is the most relaxed he's felt, or allowed himself to. looking straight ahead, he nudges her with his elbow before he turns to face her. ] What shit are you going to write on it? [ and he nods toward his phone in her hands. ]

she keeps looking at him, holding her phone.]
"I'm not down to earth. At all. Let me take you into my magical world of being shirtless. All the time."
no subject
Really?
[ that's way worse than elsa's one, and she'd been trying to sound so unlike him on purpose (apparently). he supposes that's the point, but even then, bellamy has to try and stifle his own laughter. ]

A leader and hero. An unwaveringly loyal friend and brother. Actually pretty funny.
[ and at the bottom she had to add:]
And perpetually shirtless
[ she looks at him.] Elsa's is better.
no subject
[ it's too many characters for his profile, otherwise he'd just write that. ]
[ looking to the phone, he flicks his hand toward it as though he's capable of magic that can erase text. ] Can we get rid of everything but the brother part?
[ that's really the only thing he believes in — and he's proud of. ]
I think that's more me.
no subject
she rolls her eyes at him, even if her lips curve in the same way his had just a moment before.] I'm pretty that won't get you a lot of cuddles.
no subject
[ if the shoe was on the other foot, bellamy would feel slightly inclined to say no. he's still a little iffy on octavia being here and having to cuddle strangers, and though he knows they could easily cheat … she has to live her life, and he wants her to. ]
[ it's a good thing he doesn't feel compelled to change her cuddlr profile. ]
no subject
she makes up another excuse, instead.]
Believe it or not, I actually care if you're happy, Bell.
no subject
[ he doubts octavia would like it, either. using someone to get what he wants for her — it's what had happened to mom on the ark, and bellamy had never felt right since understanding he'd been offered a spot on the guard as a cadet because mom made a deal and let someone use her. ]
I'm happy that you're here.
[ he doesn't need anyone else, and maybe that's the problem. placing so much weight on octavia being here — the only person bellamy will ever acknowledge he needs is her. sometimes he's afraid of admitting as much. ]
I don't need to cuddle someone to be happy, O. [ he looks away from her and shifts, leaning forward to grab the remote from the coffee table to switch the movie off and have spongebob playing in the background. ] I've been holding hands with people to get this deal met. The cuddling thing's just weird.
no subject
why wouldn't he make the most of this place? that's what she would do. that's what she plans to do. to do everything she can while she's here. and she doesn't want the pressure of being the only reason he's happy. it makes her sad to think of it.]
Okay. [ this conversation feels weird, like one she doesn't want to continue.]
no subject
[ he's looked at anna and elsa, and sees how they orbit around one another. he knows elsa would do anything for anna, and he can imagine his assumption anna would do the same in return is right. but he doesn't quite know what makes them so different to octavia and himself, and perhaps it's the way that they've been raised. ]
[ steering the conversation away from cuddlr, bellamy's expression shifts into one of amusement. ]
Would you eat a burger again?
no subject
as much as octavia wants to be free, she wants bellamy to be free too. she doesn't want to be a burden, to be the thing that holds him back.]
Uh, yes. Of course. I'd eat another one right now.
no subject
[ that's something that can exist in eudio — seconds. rationing on the ark hadn't been kind to either of them, and though mom had often forced his hand as a kid to give half of his food to octavia, it's more of a choice than a sense of obligation he'd given her a portion of anything and everything he'd been given. ]
[ but in eudio, he can inhale an entire buffet of food without needing to think of anyone else. it's weird and it's surreal and he thinks octavia will get a kick out of having more than she's ever had before. ]
