[ trusting him with food. though bellamy's learned all he can of the different types of meals you can have in eudio, he still doesn't quite trust himself to pick well. but he's come to learn quickly not to argue with elsa about who gets to choose what — he suspects she'll be as unmovable as ice, perhaps easy to thaw, but taking a long time to get there. ]
[ glancing at her then the menu, bellamy brushes his hand through his short hair. it's slowly growing back, but isn't the floppy mess it'd once been. ]
[ with one last quick look over the large menu behind the counter, bellamy turns to her. he doesn't take a step forward to wait in the very short line to the register, but stays where he is, on the peripherals of the queue. ]
I'll order, if you go pick the table. We'll eat here. [ his smile is small and amused, ] I'll trust you to pick a good spot.
[ she wants him to make most of the decisions for this outing for a reason, wanting their friendship to be somewhat balanced and open, especially since she is determined to know more about him, even if it isn't as much as he knows about her. ]
Alright. I will take my duty seriously, [ elsa replies gravely before laughing, flouncing off to go in search of the perfect table. given all the choices, she goes for the best one, in her opinion: a booth by the window, but far from the door. ]
[ after ordering, it takes bellamy only a moment to spot her. elsa doesn't stand out in this crowd, not like he would expect a queen to — or a woman who can manipulate snow. he isn't so sure if he expects her to glow or sparkle like snow beneath harsh sunlight, but he doesn't believe she's the type to bury herself in the shadows, either. ]
[ manouvering his way toward the booth she's chosen, he slides into the opposite seat. glancing quickly out the window, she's chosen a spot that provides them the best view of the city outside — and him the place he'd rather be, able to observe a road he still hasn't quite gotten used to, not even after seven months of watching. ]
It was a good thing you told me you like mozzarella on your pizza. I asked for a lot of it. [ whether bellamy's joking or not — that has yet to be determined by his smile and now easy manner. resting his back against the booth, he pulls his phone from his pocket and leaves it with the screen facing down on the table. ]
[ she sometimes thinks about how long she has known him and how quickly the time seems to pass here. it strikes her then, as she watches him sit down and her eyes travel over his profile when he looks out the window. it is when he finally settles that she looks down at her hands neatly folded over the table.
she laughs softly. ] How much? [ lifting her head, she looks up at him with interest. she can feel a buzz from her phone in her purse off to the side, but she ignores it, preferring his company. ]
Did you order just a cheese pizza, or did you add any other toppings?
[ he laughs, looking down at the table for a moment. ] You'll just have to wait and see if all I did was order a bowl of mozzarella cheese.
[ he didn't. even though he's a fan of cheese, bellamy isn't that taken with it. he's had several months to be overwhelmed by everything eudio has to offer, and even though he's still overwhelmed by everything, he finds that he's come to appreciate cheese for what it is. elsa doesn't need to worry about a bowl of cheese being delivered to her. ]
[ looking up at her, he's still grinning. furrowing his brows, he tries to sound matter-of-fact. ] You'll just have to trust me. [ people are more inclined to believe you if you sound like you know what you're doing, even when you don't. ]
meaning business, she leans across the table to raise her eyebrows at him. ] You sound so certain. [ and she does look as if she is considering his words, eyes narrowed, lips pursed into a thin line across her face. finally, a nod. ]
Alright. [ it doesn't take much deliberation. her trust in him was officiated the moment she initiated contact and took his hand. ]
[ he thinks to say it, but he still behaves as though monty's lingering on the outskirts of wherever he happens to be. he expects those kids he had grown over the last few months with to be there, filling in the gaps he leaves intentionally for them. bellamy waits to hear a voice that isn't there to say it. ]
[ looking at her with his brows raised, ] I bet you say that to all the fellows.
Just one fellow. [ elsa smiles shyly and looks down at her hands again.
and, for a moment, she is at a loss for words. there are no other fellows. sure, there are people who are interested in her cuddlr profile, but she invests little in that attention.
[ bellamy smiles, and looks away. there's nothing particularly interesting outside of the window. though some people walk by, he doesn't recognise them. but it's enough of a distraction for him to feel any heat prickle at his neck cool down. ]
[ he looks to his phone at her question, thinking about showing her one of the pictures he's taken of chion sitting on the back of a zelo spread out on the kitchen tiles. ]
Chion sits on them whenever he gets the chance. [ he looks up at her and shakes his head. he's not so sure if that's regular snowgie behaviour. what does a badly behaved snowgie look like? a part of him doesn't want to find out. another part of him suspects they're like a particularly bad snowstorm. ] Whatever he's made out of, it's good. They lick him a lot. I was afraid he'd melt or disappear if they kept it up. [ he leans back against the booth cushion. ] You must be pretty powerful if two dogs can't lick a snowgie into not existing anymore.
Me? Wh – [ elsa chuckles and lifts her hands off the table curling them into each other and holding them to her chest. ] Oh, yes, snowgies never melt. They seem to be the only animated snow creatures of mine that don't. [ marshmallow is a little questionable because he is partly made of ice and olaf nearly sacrificed himself by the fire to help anna. but olaf gets his own snow cloud and marshmallow lives in the mountains. ]
That all sounds wonderful. Snowgies do like to sit on people. They sit on my head and Anna's often. I've stopped paying them mind when it happens.
[ but does chion sit on bellamy's head and is there a way she can get photographic evidence of this?
she leans back in her seat. ] I'm sure he likes the attention.
[ bellamy's gaze lift upward to the top of her head, as if expecting to see a snowgie on her hair. he's a little disappointed there isn't one there. chion's tried to sit on his head many times over, and he's always flicked him away. ]
So, that's not a strange thing to have happen. [ he looks down at his lap, feeling a little better knowing chion sitting on his head means good things. he hadn't known how to take it. dogs sitting on people's heads seemed unheard of, and if a cat did so ... he's not so sure how to take those videos on vine. there's none on animated snowballs. ] The whole sitting on your head thing.
[ talking about anything to do with home brings out a bubblier side of elsa, though perhaps it has more to do with present company. with her suspicions confirmed, she simply keeps smiling at him. her hands drop off the edge of the table so that she can fuss with her fingers underneath the tabletop. the reason behind her fidgeting is unknown, but she needs something to do with her hands while they sit together.
it isn't a date, even if this is a date-like environment. she shouldn't pay that any mind either. ]
Do you have any photographs? Of your pets, I mean?
[ he could easily leave it at that, an answer that doesn't quite give her any evidence of being true. but bellamy finds his guard is down around her, so he doesn't think twice of the compulsion he feels to show her the photographs he's taken of nike and zelo. ]
[ bellamy turns his phone over, presses a button and then taps the screen a few times. scrolling through his photos — and there's a lot of the dogs, of chion, even himself — before he finds the ones he'd want to show elsa. when he slides his phone over, she'll findafewphotosof the dogs and one of himself, courtesy of o. ]
[ he sighs, like it's a big effort on his behalf, and look out he window for a moment. ]
Since I assume you want to see them. Golden one's Zelo, lighter one's Nike.
[ curiously, elsa takes his unlocked phone in both hands, careful not to touch the screen so as not to disturb the application. she hates doing that. with her lips pursed to one side, she flips through the photographs, pulling at the photos to expand them and zoom in on – ]
Those little faces!
[ she laughs and even hugs his phone to her chest for a moment when she looks at a photo of both dogs. ]
They're very photogenic, Bellamy, [ she informs him seriously, nodding a few times. ] You ought to be proud of your two.
[ he can't help but smile, laughing lightly at her hugging his phone. he figures all golden retrievers are photogenic, not that he goes through the instagram tags or looks up vine videos of that specific breed of dog. ]
[ shifting in his seat, he sits up straighter. looking at her hands holding his phone, he finds it's difficult to think of her as someone who can easily turn it into ice and even shatter it with a hard press of her fingers. ]
They're really good dogs. You should come over and see if you can make them chase after snowflakes or something.
[ elsa's touch is dainty, just enough to move the application around. she is especially careful with other people's property, especially because she has accidentally destroyed her own phone in the past.
peering at a photo of him, she then turns it around and grins broadly. ]
I think I like the facial hair, not as much as a clean shaven look, I admit.
[ she doesn't comment much on his appearance... to his face. the moment the words leave her mouth, she presses her lips shut and looks down. ]
[ bellamy looks to the phone, then ducks his head. with an embarrassed smile, his gaze sweeps over the table. ]
Yeah. O felt like taking a photo.
[ and so he'd bothered to smile instead of hide his face away. under the belief he can somehow take his phone back, save that picture, see octavia laugh or smile at the mere sight of what had made her happy, he'd wanted to keep it. the memory of that day remains with that photo, and so he doesn't think to wipe it from his phone. ]
[ lifting his head, he looks at her, and though he'd often leave it be, even mumble a shut up depending on the company he's with, he thinks to tease her instead. it's what he would've done on the ark, long before everything fell to shit. ] I'll keep that in mind, though. Maybe you should edit your Cuddlr to say you like the clean shave.
[ elsa has folders filled with pictures taken with anna, one of their arms extended under the phone (or the selfie stick anna thought to purchase for ultimate selfie taking). she laughs, finding that they aren't very different from them in that respect.
if only octavia were still here. ]
I hardly know when Anna is drawing me. You've seen some of those, haven't you?
[ elsa looks nonchalant, getting an idea when she turns the phone back to herself, fussing with the features. ]
[ it's lucky for one of them that bellamy hears his name called out. glancing over his shoulder toward where he'd ordered the pizza, he gets up, sliding himself out of the booth to stand. glancing at her looking at his phone, he suspects her to be simply scrolling through the pictures (there's nothing incriminating in there — after all, bellamy isn't the type to take shirtless selfies standing in front of the mirror) and so doesn't care too much about her holding his phone and going through it. personal space? he doesn't quite know what that is anymore. ]
What drink do you want? [ he smiles, and it's clear he's simply taking the piss out of her when he asks, ] Ice tea?
[ her fingers move quickly and deftly this time, her lips pursed to the side. she barely hears him when he asks her a question and she gasps. ] Yes! That would be wonderful, any flavor please.
[ she exhales and shakes her head, finishing her typing. his phone rests face down in his place.
his cuddlr needed a little editing.
elsa has a decent poker face this time, her lips curved in a tiny smile when bellamy returns. ]
[ and he returns firstly with the pizza, placing it down roughly in the centre of the table, before he goes back to the counter to get her her ice tea and himself a beer. it's easier to bring them separately, given he doubts he's as talented as the waiters and waitresses who can balance almost anything on their arms. ]
[ sliding back into the booth, he looks up at her, then to her glass. unaware of what she's doing with his phone, he remains unfazed. she likes his dogs, he has pictures of them on his phone (and plenty of them to last an entire day of scrolling), so he only assumes she's looking at those. ]
Cold enough?
[ the last time elsa had a glass in front of her, she'd cooled it with her own touch. and he may just want another demonstration without so much as outright asking for it. ]
[ somewhere deep in his photos is one of elsa herself, her tongue poking out playfully with her eyes wide. it's a silly picture of a serious queen, and the only proof he might have of whoever changed his profile text and photo. but she'll leave that for him to discover later on.
she leans forward in her seat again and wraps her hands around the glass, frosting the exterior without thinking about it, unwittingly doing as he wished. ]
Now, it's just perfect.
[ plucking a straw from the cup on the table, she unwraps the paper from around it and places it in the glass. ]
[ he's happy she falls for it, even though it isn't so much as falling. watching her with a smile he doesn't think to try and take, he shakes his head and looks to her glass than her hands. reaching out to brush his fingers against her drink, he finds it's very much as cold as he thought it would be. ]
It's still weird you can do that.
[ taking a slice of pizza, he drops it onto his plate. ] Extra cheese for the Queen of Arendelle. Might be a bit hot for you.
[ she takes the fork and knife off her plate and rests them on the napkin on the table, making room for the pizza slice she has her eye on. taking the crust between her fingers, it isn't too hot for her, but she can still tell that it is fresh from the oven. she moves quickly, not wanting to scald the tips of her fingers, and places the steaming slice on the platter. ]
It smells divine, [ she observes without sniffing theatrically as she is prone to doing around her sister. ]
[ it doesn't matter, bellamy still finds it odd that he knows someone who can easily ice a drink with a mere wish of her own will. he's slightly embarrassed by her comment, but doesn't respond to it, instead waving his hand over his thick slice and leaving it to cool down. ]
[ looking up at her, he arches his brow. ] Did you do your smelling thing already?
[ making fun of her is fun for him. elsa has always been slightly unique, even eccentric in the way she behaves and the things she takes pride and joy in. he can't help but find his mood improves by how innocent her own intentions often are. being around someone who simply wishes to enjoy the world around her makes him feel a little lighter — and more open to noticing what's around him isn't as dangerous as he wants to believe. ]
