[ bellamy's taste isn't crap all the time. it feels like one of those challenges: i bet you'll pick something that's really shit, but it's been designed to make him sleect something that's actually incredibly decent. considering the types of things he likes to watch, he doesn't doubt octavia wouldn't enjoy them. she hasn't seen everything, and despite his year of being in eudio, neither has he. anything is better than what they had, which was nothing at all. ]
[ he settles, though, when she holds up the beer. his expression is definitely big brother — he sighs and looks at her with a slightly raised brow — and it's on the tip of his tongue to tell her not to keep that crap in her fridge, but he nods his head. ]

[ octavia's tastes are pretty varied at the moment. when everything is new, everything is pretty damn great. she's struggled to find things she does like. okay, so she doesn't like cauliflower, she'll be happy never to eat anything soy again. ever. she avoids nuts and she doesn't really like classical music all that much. and no movies about space.
it turns out she loves spicy foods. the spicier, the better. she really enjoys a dumb action movie. not the sort with a lot of gratuitous violence but car chases and propelling off of buildings.
he passes whatever test she was throwing at him with the beers, moving to set them on the counter before she puts the pizza in the oven and sets the timer.]
Yeah, you'll need beer goggles to even look at me. [ she's using that term in the wrongest way but she doesn't know as she heads towards the couch with the beers, offering one to him before she sits down next to him.]
[ bellamy shakes his head, laughing. the test he'd passed with flying colours is one he easily destroys within a blink. while bellamy may not be the most cultured, he's watched a few too many movies with dudebro humour, and he's hung out at pubs, overhearing some of the incredibly unkind things some have said behind the backs of others. ]
[ he's her big brother. it's his job to make sure she doesn't say this kind of stuff to people who'll take advantage of her lack of knowing. ]
[ he takes the proffered beer from her. he doesn't look at it when he opens it and the twist of the lid elicits a satisfying sound. ]

[ she opens her own beer before she glances at him with an incredibly furrowed brow. why was he laughing? had she said it wrong? of course, her understanding of what beer goggles are was limited, she hadn't seen enough dudebro movies to know. she'd heard it said at a bar she went to with raven and she thought it mean drunk-vision or something, no sexual connotation to be had.]
[ he has to wonder where she's heard it. had raven used it when they'd spent time together? he can suspect she's gone to a bar, either in the company of their shared friends or people he has yet to meet. ]
[ relaxing against the couch, he shakes his head. ]
Hey stupid, [ she gives his arm a shove when he pulls that stupid line.] Don't make me say that I'm old enough now. [ because she is and she moves to take a sip of her beer as if to prove that much.]
[ bellamy hasn't laughed so much in months. it doesn't go unnoticed by him, but he doesn't say anything, either. he suspects it'd only make octavia wilt. ]

[ he makes sure not to look at her, nor properly suppress his smile, when he says, ] Good thing you have adult supervision around for this. Kids aren't allowed to watch it on their own.
[ oh, he's going to get it now. she reaches for one of the pillows on the couch and uses it to thwack him right on the arm, the arm not holding the beer, of course.]
[ bellamy laughs, rich and loud. he leans forward to place his beer on the table before him, pulling a coster or something else to place it on. they may not have had much in means of possessions, but mom did teach them manners, after all. ]

[ scrolling through the list of movies, he hunts for it. sometimes he ends up flicking right by what he's searching for. almost a year here, and he still isn't used to some of the technology. ]

A swan... [ she has to think for a moment because...] No, I guess I haven't. [ she knows what they are, she's seen pictures and read about them but... she realizes she's not sure she's ever actually seen one moving.]
