[ bellamy isn't so sure what to make of caroline's little forceful nudge. he'd considered not going at all and seeing if she was as good as her word, but a part of bellamy kind of wants to go to see what the fuss is about. unity day had been a masquerade, but the type of outfits the kids wore were always so plain in comparison. on the ark, it seemed to be like the suit caroline had sent him, but on the ground, it's really nothing. ]
[ clarke's text doesn't surprise him, but it's not because he's clued in caroline's trying to set them up. unity day had been a dance she'd been involved in, too. maybe she's as curious as he is to see the differences between the ark's idea of a masquerade and eudio's. ]
[clarke isn't too aware of the set up either but if she does find out that caroline did the same for bellamy, it'll be easy for her to guess caroline's motives in this.
having been in eudio for a while now, she had seen these type of events before but a masquerade was a bit different than the ball she first went to a few months ago which she went to more willingly even picking out a dress for herself. she was still curious though what the masquerade would be like but that wasn't the entire reason she was texting him]
i was just curious! i was going to go to check it out too for a bit. did you want to come with me? [there's a bit of a delay before she tacks on the question at the end though because part of her feels like she shouldn't be asking or bothering him to come with her]
[ going with someone to a dance ... bellamy's learned from some of the movies he's watched that it's a Big Deal, but usually that film stars molly ringwald, and her character usually has some geek fawning all over her. bellamy's not so sure if clarke's got a geek trailing after her, but even if she did, film isn't real life. those sci-fi flicks are proof enough. ]
[ he thinks to say no, but this is an invitation, and when he'd invited clarke to step through the gates of camp jaha, she'd declined him. he doesn't want to see her turn her back on him again. it's always been together. ]

You know if this masquerade is anything like Unity Day?
[it might be a Big Deal in movies but for clarke, the invitation and the fact she was reaching out to him to come with her was really her way of showing him that she was still trying despite how things left off between them back home with her leaving camp.
she's actually surprised by his response, not really expecting him to agree to it. he could have said no and she wouldn't have thought anything of it and just gone by herself like she usually does but she's glad that he doesn't]
i'm not sure. i think it'd be a bit different even though idea of the masquerade is probably the same. [with all the dressing up and wearing masks and all that. except it'd probably be a lot more fancier than what was on the ark, not to mention it was for a different occasion too]
The last one I went to, I was a part of the Guard. It was nothing to write home about.
[ and he'd gotten o locked up and mom floated. but it's easier to detach himself from it without really thinking of it. all the other unity day celebrations, he'd gone when it was mandatory, but had, otherwise, stayed in their little unit on the ark and played with octavia. he can't really remember a moment when he wasn't with his sister. ]

[sometimes it's easy for clarke the differences between them and how that was part of his life back on the ark. she doesn't know the context of it being the reason octavia was locked up and his mother being floated but she figures it has to do with being part of the guard]
oh, yeah i guess that would make it a lot less exciting.
but yeah the free food definitely is big difference too. [she doesn't even care that's the reason he agreed to go with her really]

[whether it's the reason he agreed or not, clarke doesn't question it either but she does hate herself a little bit for feeling like she needed to ask him to come with her and even for being glad he agreed to come]
