97 years ago bombs went off and destroyed everything. We went up into space, some people stayed on the ground and even went under. Were you there?

[ anything that happened after, like dead people rising from their graves, hasn't been recorded down for the ark. but bellamy has to untangle this because she's the first person who isn't from home who has experienced the apocalypse. or what he thinks to be. bellamy's a post-apocalypse hunk. ]

everything's different for different people. in 2009 the dead rose out of their graves and started eating us.

at the start of 2013 the government found a way to
help them.

I'm going to pretend I understand this because I don't understand how that's possible at all. The eating people I do. The government I don't. The dead —

[ bellamy's going to process this as follows: someone flicked a switch and the dead rose. the dead, who he's going to think of as reapers, because they kill people, eat people. and the government, the council, actually found a way to help their people that didn't involve culling them for oxygen. and dead people came back to life. ]
